20 Years of Finding Nemo - Aquarium of the Pacific

In addition to it being one of my favorite Pixar films, it may shock you to know that this movie is already over 20 years old! But nonetheless, we came together with the Aquarium of the Pacific to create an incredible event celebrating this milestone anniversary. One interesting bit about this event is that it was a result of a challenge set to our team: how to make a screening of a legacy title more interesting in the age of streaming? Who wants to pay and travel see a movie they can watch on Disney+, right? We put our heads together, and came up with this. An experiential moment allowing guests to “step into the story” after their viewing of the film. I am beyond proud of this event and so grateful at how involved I was from the pitch to the execution. Really, it speaks volumes to what a fan-centric celebration should be!

I was fortunate enough to emcee, hosting our guests in the Aquarium’s state of the art theater. Before the film, I shared a few of my favorite fun facts about the movie, sponsor messaging and introduced an animal husbandry expert from the museum who gave a presentation on the real-life stars of the film. They spoke about the importance of protecting oceanic ecosystems and then the screening began. Following the screening, D23 guests were invited to enjoy private access to the Aquarium, getting up close and personal with some fishy friends (not food)!

We were able to welcome a group of creators to this event, which made for excellent social engagement on all platforms. This was especially valuable to sharing details about D23 Membership benefits and even a highlight toward our sponsor messaging by sharing moments from their special prize activation at the event.
